Karyn
- Position
- Trainee Veterinary Nurse
- Been with GVH since
- July, 2010
I've worked at the Gungahlin Vet Hospital since July 2010 and I can't imagine working anywhere else. All the people who make up the team are amazing to work with, and each patient makes every day both challenging and rewarding to the highest degree. My main responsibilities are surgical and medical nursing for all patients, providing great client care at the reception desk, and helping Vicki to train (and cuddle!) our puppy class puppies.
I also have a Diploma of Soft Tissue Therapy (human!) so I am particularly interested in the post-operative recovery and comfort of our patients by adapting my skills at times to help hasten the healing process (and of course helping to alleviate other staff members aches and pains!). Meanwhile I am currently continuing to study veterinary nursing and will be finished in 12 months.
A little bit of personal information:
I am engaged to be married in March 2012.
We have one dog whose name is Eligh. He is a gorgeous mastiff x cattle dog (we think!) which we found at the RSPCA at the same time I joined the team at GVH. He was one year old when he came to us and, while as a rescue dog he does have his challenges and quirks, he has been a brilliant addition to our lives, as well a very enthusiastic (albeit quite large) addition to the lounges in the evenings, and we couldn't imagine life without him.
We also have five tropical fish called Bruce, Boris, Bullet, Bob, and Phil, and eventually my partner and I would like to hone our skills and create a large tropical coral reef tank.
